ben·ton·ite
[ben-tn-ahyt]External Uses
- Bentonite clay is used in many commercial personal care products, including baby powder, eczema lotion, face creams, mud packs and sunburn lotions. Many individuals swear that soaking in a bath with bentonite clay added to the water will help remove toxins from the body. Acne sufferers might clear things up by applying a clay mask on the affected areas. Those with chronic headaches might find relief by placing a bentonite clay pack on the back of their necks for 20 minutes. Bentonite clay should never be allowed to dry on an open wound.
1 cup of Bentonite Clay
1/2 cup (roughly) of Apple Cider Vinegar
Mixed until smooth
Applied throughout hair and scalp
Covered with plastic cap and left on hair for 30 minutes
Rinsed with warm water for 10 minutes (this stuff is hard to get out so it will take longer than 10 minutes to remove...trust me...lol)
I then conditioned my hair with
Luscious Locks Hair Mask |
I then applied my Leave-In Sealed hair with Grape seed Oil and applied Medium twist throughout my hair.
My Thoughts
Pro: It is a good alternative to shampoo, my hair and scalp were clean
Con: It takes longer to make the hair mask, have it sit in your hair for the 30 minutes, and wash it out than it does to just shampoo
Pro: It is excellent for defining my curls, so I didn't have to apply any gel!
Con: It left my roots looking and feeling rather parched :-/
Pro: Detangling was a BREEZE
Con: Getting product completely out of my hair
I will be trying this again because I honestly can't decide how I feel about this product...lol
